Mission Trip to Chiang Mai, Fang - 20 July 2010

Tuesday

Today, we went to a place that's like Bugis Street. This place has a lot of food, clothes, daily items, stuff for Buddhist. Each level sells specific stuff - eg. level 1 sells mainly food, level 2 sells clothes, level 3 sells daily items. It was really great for Joy to bring us around. Good company always makes the journey fun! :)
Joy also brought us to a more modern shopping centre, it's like Far East to me. haha! We had lunch there and also a haircut! Neater hair for me. :) We took a local bus and a tuktuk (taxi). I must say that the transportations in Thailand are quite cool.
Along the way to theres places, there were a lot of temples. And I couldn't help but realize the multitude of lost souls in Chiang Mai. I started praying for the people of Chiang Mai - both Christians and non-believers. My heart truly went out to them at that point.

We got back to CEM, got our luggages and met up with Ah-Chan Lisa. Then we rushed to take a bus to Fang (I have a feeling it's spelt Phang instead). We reached there slightly late and actually realized that Ah-Chan Lisa bought the wrong tickets. The bus had already left the day before. haha! Well, even though all that happened, we still managed to buy new tickets for a local bus to travel up to Phang. Praise God for that!!

The view along the way was really awesome and God's creation is truly so wonderful and perfect. After a gruelling 3.5 hours bus ride, packed with locals, we finally reached Phang. Three boys from New Sky Home came out to the main road to get our luggages for us. It was all dark (probably 8+pm). It was really sweet of the boys to come out to help. We settled down, had dinner and a short time of sharing with Ah-Chan Lisa. During this time, we heard many stories of the children living in New Sky Home (aka 新天之家). Though I knew that I would be serving in an orphanage, I guess I didn't really realize that I would never comprehend what the children have been through. It dawned on me that I may not know how to speak to them without feeling sorry for them. I truly need to seek God for wisdom, for His love and for sensitivity in being with the children.

We ended the day with a good chat and time alone with God. God truly reminded me to love His children as Jesus loves them.

1 Timothy 4:12
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
