2 years ago, my family and close friends (all from church, cause it was Ben and Ling who planned the party) surprised me in my own home. They all squeezed in my lil room and as I opened the door and walked in, "SURPISE" was all I heard. It was a very special day (though it was the 23rd, 5 days before the actual day). It was a very special time spent with people I love and serve with. Lots of games and fun and laughter. Very close poly mates also surprised me by appearing at my dinner with Ben in town! hahah. It was funny cause they pretended that Vel was meeting me for a short while with her lovely family - the husband, the son and the pram. hahaha. Wheelock mates worked things out with David and Rajes. David spoke to me about needing someone to represent Wheelock to do some gardening of some sort. In the end, as I walked into the office meet David for more details, everyone was there to surprise me with a cake. Kar, Izzy and Jace surprised me by blindfolding me and bringing me to Kallang where i had my lovely birthday cupcakes and present. As I type, more and more memories flew in. And I feel so blessed, so very blessed to have friends and family who love me and take so much effort to make me happy.
2 years have passed since I reached the legal adult age. But this year's birthday came with a lil downside - Ling flew back today. Well, though sad as I may be, she did spend close to 2 months back here with us. We actually didn't get to do a lot of things we listed out to do. Well, I guess we'll have to wait till the end of the year. Ling, always remember that we love you and are thinking of you all the time. (We actually do see each other all the time over skype. Thank God for Skype! haha.)
As I grew older, the desire to go to parties, to drink, to watch movies kinda died down. I just enjoy spending quality time with the friends and the family. Spending time talking, laughing, playing monopoly deal, watching AI and laughing over the funny singing. All the birthday gifts that I once looked forward to, just doesn't seem to be the important anymore. I just want to sit down with the people I love over dinner or a cup of coffe - catching up.
Friends who read this and are thinking of what to get me. Don't worry. Gifts aren't necessary. :) Just have a meal with me. :) But if you insist, I am considering getting a new camera (my old one sucks). I already have one in mind. So you can contribute to the "Yi En Camera Fund" (I kinda just made that up). Don't worry about having to buy the camera. You can lighten my burden of paying the full amount! hahah! That's only if you insist. But really.... GIFTS AREN'T NECESSARY!! (As I type this, I find myself being so ironic. hahahah!!)
Btw, I had an awesome time with my family, my aunt and cousins and Ben last night. We hadour reunion dinner/birthday dinner. A close knit family spending time together, enjoying awesome food that my mum cooked. My very sweet and lovely aunt also bought awesome Strawberry Shortcake from Bakerzin! The night was filled with chatting, capturing moments together with pictures, playing monopoly deal and watching AI. It was fun!
Had another awesome dinner with the poly mates - Xin, Vel, Pei, Dan and Jacob. They made the effort to plan suprises, which I kinda picked up hints here and there. hahahah! It's always fun hanging out with them. They know exactly what kinda things I like. We're always so open with each other. That's why we're still such close friends after 6 years. Wow, I didn't think it was this long!! hahaha.
Today, I'm looking forward to SOFTPLAY in school (YAYYYYY!!!!) and to tonight's celebration with Ben. He's being very secretive about his plans, which apparently lasts for 3 days. hahahahh! We shall see what happens.
I just want to end this post with a big big big
THANK YOU and I LOVE YOU GUYS...
Really appreciate all the effort and the love.
Love from the bottom of my heart,
Yi En
