Boston - Week 3

This week was really filled with a lot of joy, excitement and screaming! J So much happened this week and it began with the Independence Day celebration. It was really such an amazing experience to celebrate another country’s independence with her people. In addition, it was great to be able to spend that special day with the great friends I’ve come to know more. The fireworks were breath taking and my eyes were glued to the beautiful sky for twenty whole minutes. The sky was filled with beautiful fireworks and to enjoy it with incredible friends made the twenty minutes even better.

Sunday was spent at the aquarium, which was another incredible to spend the day at. The New England Aquarium was filled with all kinds of sea creatures and I was truly amazed at the vast number of different sea creatures there are. It was a place for everyone – adults, children and seniors. It was also place for people with special needs. Children not only learn by watching and observing the sea creatures, but they were able to touch and feel how some creatures are like. It is a place that children could ask questions, learn and have fun all at the same time.

My friends and I caught the Blue Man Group and it was the best show that I have ever watched. It was interactive, entertaining and relaxing. Simply said – MARVELOUS! I believe that those who have watched would agree with me. It’s a show that I have never watched before. My friends and I were standing throughout the show – screaming, shouting and slapping. It was worth every cent!

Isabella Steward Gardner Museum was another highlight of the week. Before going there, I was wondering what kind of things would be displayed at the museum. I knew nothing about it. However, the one-hour I spent there was magical. It was like I was brought back to the 1800s. The furniture, portraits and books displayed were so enchanting that I was mesmerized by all of them. The building itself was beautiful that I made sure that I looked through every corner of every room. A lady working at the museum helped my friends and I understand better about the history of the museum and about Isabella Steward Gardner herself. It made the visit to the museum even more fruitful.

The leaders and I met up with Joan and a few of the faculty for a more detailed feedback session. Personally, I love how the bachelor program is designed. It may not be perfect, which is why the feedback session was called for. However, I think that the program was designed with much discussion and detailed thought processes. I have learnt so much through the past year and counting from my fellow learners and from the professors both in Boston and Singapore. To all who put so much effort in putting the bachelor program together, thank you for everything! None of us would have had such wonderful learning experiences to become agents of change in the early childhood field in Singapore! Thank You!
